Icosahedral map

I am shopping around for a mapping program and I wanted to know if Fractal World Explorer and/or Fractal Mapper 8.0 can generate and print a random world map in an icosahedral format so that there is no distortion of the land sizes? Also on the world map topic, can these programs generate multiple unconnected continents instead of the long continents that snake all over the screen as one massive continent that occupies half the world and the other half is all water?

  • Fractal Mapper doesn't generate maps per se. So if you wanted a map of a particular projection, you'd need to draw out the projection lines yourself.

Fractal World Explorer does generate planet maps, but does not support different projections. The worlds it generates can vary, sometimes its a bunch of small continents, other times its a single large continent. The AstroSynthesis trial version actually includes FWE, so if you want to try that out first you might download that.
