My main screen is all red.
When I choose a new project, the screen comes up with a tight red weave. I can't figure out how to get it to start with a clean screen.

Set the background color with Map -> Map Setup from the menu, and make sure you don't have very tiny grids set up using Map -> Grids from the menu.
