One table result producing two different sub results

I tried searching the forums for this first, but it is a bit confusing here, and I've been through the manual and not seeing an easy way to achieve the goal I'm looking for. I'm attempting to convert some of the Stars Without Numbers adventure seed generators so as to spit out a fully formed paragraph. As an example:
An amoral relic-hunter and a politician seeking to plunder relics of legitimacy are clashing over a local trying to "burn out" the danger in the temple, both of them wishing to employ your ally for some detestable end, but the real temple is hidden behind a false facade is preventing either of them from concluding their feud just yet. a local trying to "burn out" the danger in the temple is being imprisoned in ornate baths for ritual purifications where initiation into the priesthood involves parasitic aliens, while at the same time the party learn of a precious a prize a living convert brought with him that can be found at a dangerously decrepit priest cells where intruders can leave only after years of catechism. After a local wanting to "burn out" the danger in the temple or a prize a living convert brought with him are recovered, the temple is surrounded by very unfriendly locals will kick in, making the second object very difficult or dangerous to retrieve.

...produced with:
[!Antagonist] and [!Antagonist >> Lower] are clashing over [@Mcguffin=Friend >> Lower], both of them wishing to employ your ally for some detestable end, but [@Complication >> Lower] is preventing either of them from concluding their feud just yet. [@Vartest >> Lower] is being imprisoned in a [!Place >> Lower] where [!Wrong >> Lower], while at the same time the party learn of a precious [@Mcguffin2=Thing >> Lower] that can be found at a [!Place >> Lower] where [!Wrong >> Lower]. After [@Vartest >> Lower] or [@Vartest2 >> Lower] are recovered, [@Complication >> Lower] will kick in, making the second object very difficult or dangerous to retrieve.

My Mcguffin/vartests would work better if I could get them to reference a secondary result only related to the original variable rolled on the table. I would love for this to just say, "The crazy local" the second time rather than "a local trying to "burn out" the danger in the temple" every time. Is there a way to get a reference like that? Here is what I have for the full table so far, and thanks.

Table: Sixteen Stars Adventure Seeds; Ancient Temple

[@Friend] struggle(s) to overcome [@Antagonist >> Lower] as they mutually search for [@Thing >> Lower] reported to be located at a [@Place >> Lower] somewhere within the temple where [@Wrong >> Lower]. [|[@Complication] is keeping the resident priests from actively stopping them, but they're furious at the profanation of their home. |[@Complication] threatens to bring down calamity soon.]
[@Antagonist] has/have seized [@Mcguffin=Thing >> Lower] and hidden it away in a [@Place >> Lower] where [@Wrong >> Lower]. [@Friend] has learned of the acquisition and seeks to draw in help from outside to recover [@Vartest >> Lower] for their own purposes. [@Complication] is preventing them from making a personal effort at reclaiming [@Vartest >> Lower].
[@Friend] knows the location of [@Mcguffin=Thing >> Lower] in a [@Place >> Lower] within the temple where [@Wrong >> Lower], but dares not confront [@Antagonist >> Lower] who is dangerously close to the object, and who could seize it easily if they were aware of it. The ally's last attempt at recovering [@Vartest >> Lower] was the genesis of a fresh complication, [@Complication >> Lower], and they believe they need outside help if they're not to make things even worse.
[@Friend] is a guardian of [!Thing >> Lower] that has been stolen or suborned by [@Antagonist >> Lower], who will soon carry it off for their own sinister purposes. [@Complication] is preventing them from doing so just yet, but as soon as they calm the situation, they'll be able to carry it off beyond reach. The ally appeals to the party for aid, offering [!Thing >> Lower] at a [!Place >> Lower] known only to them where [!Wrong >> Lower].

  • You don't need your vartest tables. In the Friend or Thing tables, add a silent variable assignment to every entry. For example, in the Friend table:
    A surviving priest eager to make converts[thefriend==the priest]
    An avidly curious archaeologist[thefriend==the archaeologist]

    In the adventure text, you'd use {thefriend} or {thething} whenever you wanted the shorthand version instead of the full version.

  • And that totally works and explains the logic of silent variables in a way that makes sense. Thank you so much.
