Orbital speed, Distance and Orbit Period

Hi there - AstroSynthesis novice here but I have what I think is a simple question.

How can I set both the distance of a moon and the orbit period to a specific number?

I would think that I could define both and then the orbital speed of the moon to be adjusted to whatever rate would be required.

Specifically, I want a moon with a distance of ~231k km and I want it to have an orbit period of 104 days, however I'm being given an automatically calculated period of ~13 days. To get the 104 days I have to push the orbit out to ~925k km. How can I just adjust the speed?

Thanks

  • The relationship between the orbital period and distance are fixed by physics. A body orbiting at a specific distance around a specific mass has a specific orbital period.

If you just want to override the value that gets displayed, you can customize the body's system data fields (in the properties window) to remove the orbital period entry, and add your own hard coded value in.
