Delete Lists from a Text Field

I've created some text fields and assigned lists to them. Now, I've changed my mind and I am unable to delete the list from the object.

Is there a way to make an object - in this case, a text field - no longer use a list?

    Well, I've found one answer; delete the list. Thing is, I want to use the list elsewhere, I just need to delete the reference to it from a particular object.
