Orbital Period Calculation

I am trying out the demo version. How accurate are the orbital period calculations for moons around gas giants? I put moons around one of my gas giants, put in the distance and the orbital period does not make sense especially when compared to real world data. Is anyone able to help?

  • Its just basic Kepler orbital calculations. If you have a specific example that you think is incorrect you should send it to the tech support email address.
  • Just to follow up, I did some tests with real-universe bodies and the calcs came out very close to what was expected.
  • You install both AstroSynthesis 3 and Fractal Terrains, and you try to run Astro3 first.
    This only occurs if you did not have AstroSynthesis 2.0 installed on your computer.

    The solution:
    Download and run the program linked below. After the program launches, click the 'fix FT integration' button. Nothing will appear to happen, but it will create the necessary registry entries to get past this problem. Then launch Astro.
  • Actually, I do not think AS3 uses true Keplerian functions.
