Jörðgarð Map of the Week #400 - Black Fortress Pendulum Trap

edited April 2019 in Maps and Symbols

Map of the Week No. 400 is from the forthcoming Jörðgarð Trails adventure "A Tale of 2 Books." This week we see the pendulum trap of the dungeon's third level.

Two large balls with sharp, pointed studs that are attached to long bronze arms drop from the ceiling and then slowly begin to swing back and forth in arcs that grow with each swing. The arc of each pendulum spans 10 feet/3 meters, in other words, the span of the pressure plate. The two pendulums swing in opposite directions. They reach the middle of the pressure plate at the same time and then swing out in opposite directions to the edges of the pressure plate. When they are in the middle of the pressure plate, they are 1 foot/30 cm over the floor. When they reach the edges of the pressure plate, they are 2 feet/60 cm over the floor. With each swing, the pendulums gain speed.

The dungeon graphic above is reduced in size. You can get the full-sized graphic in two versions:
