CSUAC/Dundjinni Archives 3.0 Released

The Vintyri™ Project has released a new Version 3.0 of the combined CSUAC and Dundjinni Archives for Fractal Mapper 8. Some background for those to whom this may mean nothing:

In the late 1990s and into the first 2000s decade, Dundjinni was the leading cartographic program for making fantasy and space RPG battlemaps. A main source in those days for mapping symbols and fill patterns was the Dundjinni Forum. Over several years Dundjinni users contributed more than 30,000 symbols and fill patterns that were available for free download from the forum. Some of these were offered for private use only, but the great majority were offered by their creators for personal and commercial use.

A few Dundjinni Forum members, above all Cecil Solomon and Daniel Pryor, canvassed the creators of the symbols available for personal and commercial use and were given the right to collate them into collections that they could distribute free for personal and commercial use under licensed conditions. The first of these collections was made by Cecil Solomon and called the CSUAC (Cecil Solomon's User Art Collection). Daniel Pryor then continued where Cecil left off with the Dundjinni Archives.

The Dundjinni program was discontinued several year ago and the Dundjinni Forum also has exited the Internet. Before that happened, however, we were licensed to make and distribute versions of these collections for Fractal Mapper 8. Let me emphasize that these are not Vintyri products. We are the distributors, nothing more. The CSUAC and the Dundjinni Archives each have their own EULAs (End User License Agreements). If you install the new Version 3.0, you will find these licenses in text form in the file csuac_da_3.zip. The licenses basically allow the free personal and commercial use of the content but forbid you from redistributing the symbols as symbols and the fill patterns as fill patterns. After installation, the license file is located in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\nbos\Mapper8\Documentation

If you installed in a custom location, substitute that location for C:\Program Files (x86).

At the time that we released the FM8 Version 2.0 of the Dundjinni Archives in 2016, the final chapter of this collection had not yet been completed. The Version 3.0 now is complete. It not only adds several thousand more symbols and fill patterns to your installation, but it also replaces some defective files in both the CSUAC and the Dundjinni Archives with fixed versions.

Version 3.0 contains about 26,000 symbols and more than 1,000 fill patterns. The attached graphic gives you a very, very small sample of the content. If you also install the free Bogie's Mapping Objects and Vintyri Cartographic Collection from our website, you will have a total of more than 30,000 new symbols and about 1,200 new fill patterns.

To install Version 3.0 of the CSUAC and Dundjinni Archives, download …
