IPP for iPad

I came up with an html version of IPP that can be loaded and used on an iPad. To use it on the iPad, you need HTML Server (which is available in the AppStore for free). Create a folder, drop the html into the folder, open HTML Server, and then open the html.

You have to open the root folder containing the ipt files each time. But once loaded they stay loaded while the program is up, and it loads the entire folder and subfolders. Everything seems to be functioning.

You can create ipt files on it, but there are some limitations. If you are working on an ipt file, you can’t save directly to that file (annoying). But you can save as a new file (also annoying). HTML Server is static, and doesn’t have all the functionality of a regular web browser. And Safari deliberately blocks things that works on a normal computer.

However, it will export to PDF, copy and allow you to paste, run all the ipt folders, drop down menus, etc.

I would like to send it to someone from NBOS. Maybe it could be used to inspire a proper iPad IPP app.

  • I learned that it will also work on Edge in iPad/iPhone. Share > Edge > Open in Microsoft Edge.

  • It seemed to load ok w/ Chrome. The server piece wasn't in place obviously, But the interface looked to load correctly.

  • My intent was to make something that could work on an iPad, that was a simple standalone file. Besides having to reload the root directory and needing to use a “save as” instead of save function, it appears to be working. If it doesn’t work, I am sure I’ll hear about it.
