Do any real star catalogoues use Heliocentric Galactic Coordinates the way that AS2 does? What do I have to do to use other systems to create a set of AS2 compatible coordinates for objects like the Vela SNR and Gum nebula?
Most catalogs provide position information using right ascention, declination, and parallax for telescope usage. You need to convert those to x/y/z coordinates for use in 3D space.

see Winchell Chung's Project Rho site for info on converting coordinates: http://www.projectrho.com/starmap.html
Thanks.
